The VR00MBA, or "Vertical Roomba" was developed by myself and a team of students at Purdue University as a Sophomore Design Project through the ME263 course in Purdue Mechanical Engineering's curriculum. The VR00MBA is designed to quickly and efficiently clean whiteboards to remove mechanical labor requirements for using a whiteboard.
As a sophomore design project, the VR00MBA is intended to show student's understanding of the principles of the engineering process and design planning/validation. The original intention was to build a working prototype, but halfway through the semester in-person classes were cancelled due to the initial outbreak of COVID-19. Instead, high-fidelity models of the component parts and the present forces and stresses were created, as well as documents highlighting the product's manufacturing and assembly. I've included the final documents developed to show the work placed into design validation and presentation below.
